Ability to Display Books by Genre in Student View
Instead of Students sorting through books alphabetically, they could click on tabs by genre and search for books they might be interested in.

GIf this helps, students do have the option to search by subject or genre if you adjust your teacher settings.

Megan Louise ReavesI'd love to see more options for students in terms of browsing. It's great that they can search, but I have to teach them to do that. It'd be nice to have more options visually, present, so they could click on a genre button.

DebJust like most websites out there, it would be great if you could add "filters" before searching. Genre, Location, Guided Reading Level range, Number of Pages, Author, Series, etc.... anything other than typing in what students think they're looking for. Also, a better way to display books so it's not just 30 pages to scroll through before they find a book they think they might want! Let's see some updates, Booksource!

NatalieThis would be extremely helpful, especially when this is the only way students will be viewing the classroom library this year!

MelanieMy students do a genre challenge over the course of the year, and this would be very helpful if they had more search functions. Especially with the physical library closed off to them as we start this year.

Stephen MergedAllow students within the student portal to browse your library by genre.
The only way students will be able to browse my library this year is through the student portal. However, the student portal is very unfriendly unless they already know the name of the book they want to check out. My suggestion is to create a menu listing the genres in the library. Students can click on a genre that interests them and see a list of results. -

DianaTo group in any way (level, series, author, favorites) would really help kids to be able find books.

JaimeI would love to be able to align the way students search with how my class library is set up with my genres. So, if I could add my genre tub titles and students choose from them, it'd make finding books in my library much easier for students.

Sean Patterson AdminGood news - we plan on implementing this in the coming months along with an entirely redesigned Student View!

Miriam SilkI organize my books by location and I would LOVE for students to be able to browse that way! Then they will know the genre (my library is organized into areas by genre) and also where to find the book.

ErinIt would be nice if the genre of a book was automatically added when scanning books into my library. I have 500+ books in my classroom library and would rather not go in and manually put in the genre of each title!

ColleenI just created my digital library of nearly 1000 books. I can't believe how labor intensive manually entering each genre was. And now I discover that my students can't even search by genre! Adding a variety of search filters would tremendously help my students select books.

AnnaI second the idea of allowing students to search by location (genre would be ok too). I keep my library rotating all year, changing book bins out with the changing units. I would love for my students to be able to search only the books available instead of sifting through all the books in the storage room too.
